Circular management of organics: Pathways to prevent food waste while reducing GHG emissions

Food is lost and wasted along the entire food production value chain, which produces additional emissions. To eradicate hunger and cut emissions, we need to understand the current status and key challenges in combating food loss and waste. Explore opportunities to improve current systems through the adoption of circular practices and learn about inspiring cases which could be replicated elsewhere. The session also presents contextualised processes of circularity and valorisation of organic waste and quantifies its climate mitigation potential to meet private and public sector environmental and climate goals.

Organisers: Center of Excellence for Circular Economy and Climate Change for Latin America and the Caribbean (CECC-LAC) and Brazilian Institute of Solid Waste (Instituto PNRS), with UNEP-IETC and International Solid Waste Association (ISWA)
